Ascot Park is home of the International Women's Polo Association (IWPA), established in 1989, to promote and encourage more woman to learn and play polo. Affiliated to 35 countries worldwide, the IWPA hosts the UK National Women's Polo Tournament which is the largest women's polo event in the world.

Thirty nine US women qualified to play in the US National Women’s Championship Finals via a series of 3 to 6 Goal qualification tournaments held during the past year at polo clubs around the United States. In addition to these, a further sixteen woman are eligible to compete by virtue of their handicap being 2 Goals or greater.
From this list of Qualified Players, five teams have formed to compete in the first National Women’s Championship Finals. The Draw will be announced on Monday night at 7:30pm with an Opening Party and a poolside Draw at the International Polo Club. Everyone is welcome. Games start Wednesday to be played daily all week. The Final will be held at Outback on Saturday at 4:30pm and there will be an All-Star Game on Sunday at 9am.

TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS
The Annual Women’s Championship Finals will be a USPA sanctioned tournament
All women players must have a current USPA handicap to participate
Annual Finals to be played in the spring of the year following the qualifier playoffs
The Championship Finals Tournament will be played on the American System (to allow the ability to seed teams if necessary) or the Single Elimination System
In order to participate in the Annual Championship Finals a woman must meet at least one of the following
o two criteria. She has played in a USPA Qualifier Tournament (regardless of win/loss status after the event)
o or she holds a current USPA handicap of 2 goals or above (in the year of the finals)
Selection of players for the finals can be made only from a list of qualified players that will be made available after the final qualifier play-off date has passed
Eligible players will be responsible for forming their own complete teams to enter in the Championship Finals Tournament. Single players will not be admitted, only complete teams
The Annual Women’s Championship Finals will be a 6 chukka tournament
Handicap limit for the 2006 Finals will be 3-6 goals
